Sustainability at ECOC

Here are some of the things we’ll be doing:

Our venue – the Scottish Event Campus

The SEC has set an ambitious goal to become a Net Zero campus by 2030.

100% of its electricity comes from renewable sources, an acre of trees is planted for each conference held there, they have 180,000 honeybees in hives on the campus, with honey used in recipes, and they are the world’s first “silver healthy venue” awarded by the World Obesity Federation.

Social event venues

Both social event venues achieved Gold ‘Green’ Tourism Awards from Visit Scotland’s Green Tourism scheme. These acknowledge good environmentally-friendly practice and is a recognised hallmark of “green quality”

Getting to Glasgow

Please use public transport to travel to ECOC if you can. The SEC has its own railway station – Exhibition Centre – making it easily accessible. See the SEC’s travel page for more details.

To explore the city, make use of the low-cost ScotRail Conference Rover ticket.

At the event

We’ll be looking to avoid unnecessary waste at ECOC 2023 by minimising printed materials on site, with all the information you need accessible via digital signage and an app. Items such as lanyards will be ethically sourced and fully recyclable, and we’ll be eradicating single use plastics on site.

We’re also auditing all the suppliers we use for their green credentials.
